Geographical Location and Area

Kuwait lies at the northeast corner of the Arabian Gulf as it shares its east border with it. To the south and southwest it shares border with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and to the north & west it shares border with the Republic of Iraq. Due to its geographical location, Kuwait is considered an outlet to the northeast of the Arab island.
The distance between the most remote location on the northern border and its equal location on the southern border is about 200 kilometer (124 mile) and between the east and west borders on longitudes 29 degree about 170 kilometer (106 miles).
The borders' length is about 685 kilometers (426 miles), 195 kilometers of which (121 miles) sea borders on the Gulf to the east, 490 kilometer (304 miles) sharing borders with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the south and west, on about 250 kilometer long (155 miles) and the Republic of Iraq to the north and west on about 240 kilometer long (149 miles).
As Kuwait lies between the latitude 45, 28, 05, 30 north of equator and longitude 30,46 and 30, 48 east of Greenwich, it has a continental climate which characterizes all desert climate regions in general.
